From this Divisional Chart we can learn about native’s parents and grandparents. This is also called as ‘Suryamsha’ Here each sign is divided into 12 sections of 2°30´each. Any division starts at D-1 Lagna and covers all the 12 signs.
Parashara has assigned certain deities for each divisions
- 1, 5 and 9 – Ganesha
- 2, 6 and 10 – Ashwini Kumara
- 3, 7 and 11 – Yama
- 4, 8 and 12 – Vasuki
The
four Dwadashamsha Deities are as
follows:
Ganesha
Ashwini
Yama
Haya (or Vasuki/ Sarpa/Serpent).
They
rule over one division each, infusing each division with the qualities of their
particular powerful spiritual nature.
Who
are these deities?
Ganesha
and Ashwini Dwadashamashas are
benefic:
Ganesha:
If
you have a planet in a Ganesha sector of your D12 Dwadasamsa chart, that planet will be blessed, because the legacy of your ancestors will lead to initiation of new tasks, spiritual knowledge, and destruction of obstacles on your path of material and spiritual development. Your ancestors will promote encouragement, protection and education
to a planet here.
Ashwins:
If
you have a planet in the Ashwini sectors of your Dwadashamsha chart, because these are the Divine Horsemen, the Divine physicians, their nature is to bring fast healing. Situations will arise in your life needing healing resources, methods and consciousness. It indicates a nurturing and caring legacy from your ancestors, a benefic influence from your parents/ancestry.
Yama
and Sarpa Dwadashamashas are
more malefic in nature:
Yama:
Yama is the god of death who leads the disembodied souls into one of the darker or brighter regions of the astral world according to each individual’s merit. If you have a planet occupying one of his sectors in your Dwadashamsha chart, there will be issues of control and restraint and discipline, and of preparation for death around the nature of that planet.
Haya:
(or Vasuki/Sarpa/Serpent)
If
you have a planet in Sarpa, Haya, or Hayagriva Sectors of your D12 chart, this means that a ‘serpent energy’ or ‘death and rebirth’ quality will apply to the affairs of that planet in your life. Knowledge and wisdom will be used to overcome demonic or dark forces, and thus give peace and prosperity. Knowledge and understanding will be needed to overcome difficulties or realize the knowledge and understanding obtained, even after all else is left behind. The passing of time and manifestation of unwanted or uncalled for karmic reactions, which are activated by the time factor, will be an issue to be dealt with, so as to manifest higher residual knowledge during the passage of our life.

The planet’s longitude is noted accurately, and the Dwadasamsa unit is mapped. D12 chart is created by positioning the planets based on the AMSA. The chart counting will start from the same sign where the planet is placed in D1chart.
Example: Lagna is in Scorpio at 7°, Jupiter in Taurus at 28°47’, and Sun is in Pisces at 21°14’.
In the D12 chart,
Lagna is in the 3rd AMSA, so Lagna is placed in Capricorn (3rd sign from Scorpio)
Jupiter is in 12th AMSA. It is placed in Aries(12th sign from Taurus)
Sun is in 9th AMSA, so it is placed in Scorpio (9th sign from Pisces)
|
Lagna is in Scorpio at 7° |
Jupiter in Taurus at 28°47’ |
Sun is in Pisces at 21°14’. |
|
To reposition Lagna in D12, Scorpio is divided into 12 parts. Each part has 2°30’ (Refer Table) i.e. 7° falls in 3rd part. Counting from Scorpio, Capricorn is in 3rd house. Based on the above calculation, Capricorn will become D12 Lagna in this example. |
To reposition Jupiter in D12, Taurus is divided into 12 parts. Each part has 2°30’ (Refer Table) i.e. 28°47’ last part (12th part). Counting from Taurus, Aries is the 12th house. Based on the above calculation Jupiter will be placed in Aries in D12 chart.
|
Similar is the calculation for Sun On dividing Pisces into 12 parts, 21°14’ will fall in 9th part. Counting from Pisces, Scorpio will be the 9th house. Sun will be placed in Scorpio of D12 chart. |
